FCAP 2011 Austria Ski Trip
Next- FCAP Austrian Ski Adventure: Feb 6-12, 2011
THE 2011 COST WILL BE POSTED BY OCTOBER 1, 2010
This annual FCAP Ski Adventure is for Airline Employees (active & retired) and their family and friends. Its purpose is to introduce and encourage people to a relationship with Jesus Christ through the demonstration of truth in God's creation, God's written word and through fellowship with one another.
SKIING AND OTHER ACTIVITIES
If you love to ski or have a desire to learn, this trip is hard to beat. The skiing from Monday through Friday includes four mornings of instruction. Everyone divides into classes according to their skiing ability. Each class is lead by a trained instructor. You'll find this very helpful and challenging. Each day after lunch you can ski at your leisure. There are a number of areas to ski, but if you're like us, a frequent stop at a café on the slope for strudel and coffee is a refreshing break. One day, we ride a 50-passenger gondola to ski a beautiful glacier. From the glacier, some of the more experienced skiers can go on an all day 17-mile backcountry tour.
During free time and for non-skiers extra activities may include:
- Cross-country skiing
- Snow shoeing
- Rodeln (sledding)
- Sleigh rides
- Day trips to Salzburg and other villages
All adventure activities are subject to weather conditions. Most extra activities require minimal additional cost.
THE ACCOMMODATIONS
Tauernhof is a ministry offering a variety of programs. For part of the year it is a Bible School, the remainder of the year it is a retreat center that provides various activities for groups like ours. The facilities are "dormitory" style, meaning bunk beds (though nice ones) with shared bathrooms. Married couples may stay in private accommodations for an additional charge (amount to be announced) per couple for the week (limited availability – first come, first served). Of course, Austrian facilities are spotless. All of our meals are served family style in the Tauernhof dining room.
THE LOCATION
Tauernhof is in the picturesque alpine village of Schladming, Austria. For your convenience the ski slope and gondola are right next to the lodge. The village has shops to satisfy all souvenir needs and quaint cafés, great for evening gatherings and local desserts.
SPIRITUAL EMPHASIS
FCAP is a Christian organization, which emphasizes the importance of God and His Word. Each day we gather for a time of spiritual refreshment and challenge through music and an inspirational message. The 2011 Ski Adventure affords a balance of vacation, relaxation, free time, and opportunities for personal renewal. Registration signifies your participation in our daily meetings and meals. These are a great opportunity to form friendships and talk about the important matters of life.

TESTIMONIES FROM PAST SKI ADVENTURE
I have great memories of the ski trip; what a wonderful week it was! The greatest challenge was the ski tour and the experiences I made there; to accept help from somebody else and not having any bad feelings about it...and to realize once more, that the Lord is willing to take our burdens, BUT we have to give them to HIM !
( Eliane Backaus, Switzerland )
Once again – many thanks for wonderful time in Schladming. I enjoy looking back on it. I especially enjoyed the personal chats and the spiritual inputs shared at the evening meetings. I remember Paul saying at the beginning of the week, that no one was there by coincidence. I certainly left taking with me many things that impressed me and I can ponder over. For me it was a very important and valuable time.
( Petra Rau, Berlin, Germany )
There are lots of reasons for me going on the Ski Adventure each year. I enjoy the programs and learning something new or just having a better insight into our Lord. While the program is important, I enjoy the people the most and I have been able to deepen friendships over the years. The skiing has been great the past couple of years and the Tauernhof staff and facilities are the best for fostering community.
( Jim Mauldin, Georgia )
What really remained with me of those intensive days at Tauernhof is, that being a Christian you should include Christ in every area of your life and exclude nothing from Him. Your are entitled to make mistakes and it is not about following rights or a spiritual pattern, it is about a personal relationship with Jesus Christ based on trust. Just like a friendship. Always remember that God is on your side!
